Memory restrictions?

Hi Jim,

We have a similarly large system but we tend to only analyse a month's data
at a time so we haven't had the issue on the I Series. I wouldn't want to
run the extract over any longer time period as the time it takes to then run
in sql server (RBE) would be so long that I'd lose interest anyway!!!

The consultant contacted me this morning. He thinks that he can re-generate
the extract program by module. We're hoping to try that this afternoon.
His thought is that if a little is done at a time, we won't have the memory
problems. I'll let you know the outcome.

As a wise IBM-er told me one time, "there's no such thing as
'NOMAX'"--eventually you'll run out of SOMETHING. Many people don't realize
that--they think that they can read 5 years of history into an internal
table, and somehow it is a system problem when it runs out of room!

Hi,

ok, I don't understand what your consultant means with that. We would
need to get more information here, if this might be possible to run
somewhere else.

As I said, I see options, to change the configuration, but I would
have to think and test a bit on it first.

Regards

Volker
