Number of outbound IDOCS

Buffering will cause this sequencing issue in IDoc numbering. Has the
number of application servers that you are using increased? Did you run on
the database server before and are you running on an app server now? You
will see this if you had one app server (or created the IDocs from the
database server) with your iSeries system and have more app servers in your
Solaris/Oracle system. The data base server and each app server will have
its own set of numbers. Jobs generating IDocs on 2 different servers will
use a different set of numbers so the numbers are not assigned in absolute
sequence. You can turn off buffering on number range object EDIDOC to force
consecutive numbering, but consider performance if you have high volumes of
IDocs.

Subject: Number of outbound IDOCS

Hi list,

we are survivors from a OS/DB migration that our outsourcer has
advised us. (From my loved iSeries to Solaris/Oracle ... but that is
politician problem). We are live in new system from 2 months more or
less, after that we have noticed that, only for outbound IDOCS
(INVOIC, MATMAS, and so on) the IDOC number is no more progressive.
These means what idocs
created in successive date have a number smaller than idocs created in
preceding date. These it's very strange, because usually idoc number
(also with buffering activate) is however progressive (an idoc created
in date 1 have a number smaller than another idoc created in date 2).
So we use a custom program that control the number of the last idoc
create, if the number is no more progressive these determine a problem
for us.
I've already open a ticket in OSS ... have you got any idea to help me ?

Thank you.
