User authorizations post upgrade to 4.6C
Hi group.
As part of our upgrade from 3.1I to 4.6C, we first transported all our PRD
(productive) users and authorizations to our DEV (development) system. We
did this via a manual transport as per note 41839. Then we upgraded the DEV
system to 4.6C and then wanted to do all future user authorization
maintenance in our DEV system and transport the changes to our TST (QA) and
PRD systems. Our TST system is a DB copy of our PRD system and was also
upgraded to 4.6C about 2 months after the DEV upgrade.
As part of the upgrade project, our (business) users are getting training
on our upgraded TST system, which is supposed to have the same
authorizations as in our PRD system (still on 3.1I). Our security
administrator had made some changes in the DEV system and we then wanted
the TST system to be a "correct" version of what we could expect to have on
PRD post go-live. We did a client copy of the users, using the SAP_USER
profile from our DEV system to our TST system, but when training started in
our TST system we found that a lot of the required authorizations are now
missing.
We're not sure where or when the authorizations have been lost or damaged.
The original transport from 3.1I (to a then 3.1I system) shouldn't have
been a problem, since we have done that before without any problems.
Somewhere between upgrading the 3.1I system to 4.6C and/or doing the client
copy, the authorizations have been lost or damaged.
Does anyone have any input for us here please? Has anyone else experienced
this and, if so, any solution or way to recover the lost authorization
profiles?
