ASP + Shark

For direct attach disk, RAID-5 on iSeries with the new PCI-X ultra
RAID disk controllers now allows a minumum of 3 drives (previously 4)
in a RAID set.
This is useful for partitioned machines where you want a thin Primary
LPAR.
The maximum drives in a RAID set with the #2757 and #2782 controllers
has increased to 18 and 12 (from 10 previously), and you get to
choose from 3 options when setting up RAID from V5R2: Capacity,
Balance or Performance. With Peformance you will get more RAID
arrays, with Capacity you get the least, and Balance is the in-
between choice.
There is more about the controllers in the Performance capabilities
reference at
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/perfmgmt/resource.htm
