Disk requirments during OS/DB migtation
To the best of my knowledge AND experience with using the Migrationtools from SAP you can count on approximately a factor of 1/10 for the
size-reduction of the export files versus normal database size, so about
42.5 Gb export size in your case.

Subject: Disk requirments during OS/DB migtation
We will migrate our 46B R3 system from AS400 to Intel on SQL server
at the end of 2004.
I am trying to work out my disk requirments on the source system
during the migration (for export files) based on current disk used
and expected growth from now to the migration date. At that time I
expect the databse to be approx 425GB.
The R/3 Heterogeneous System copy manual (section 4-2 Requirements
and Restrictions)for 46B says that I need at least free disk equal to
the size of the database. If this is true I will need to do a disk
upgrade before the migration.
I am also told by several sources that the export files during the
migration are compressed. If this is so why do I need disk equal to
the database size?.
Can anyone share there experience or knowledege of how best to
calculate the disk requirments.
Thanks
Dick
