Disk requirments during OS/DB migtation

Hi Dick,

fortunately the guide is really wrong if it should contain "as large
as the database"!
Anyway, for exporting 4.6B, you need the 4.6D tools and guides.

The data is compressed with a winzip similar algorithm which would
indicate about factor 1:10 - 1:20.
But, as cluster tables and ABAP sources are compressed with this
algorithm already you can't compress that any more.
So, you get a mixture of that depending on your data.

My experience is that 10% IFS needs are sufficient and if it runs
bad 15% - I'm currently at a customer and doing this weekend 2
productive migrations again. So, about 60GB should be sufficient. As
you are having a large system you normally will have a lot free
space when SAP is down - and during the export SAP IS down. Then you
need to test this anyway and will see YOUR demand in DASD. So, you
will be fine.

But, all this knowledge should be "common knowledge" for every
certified migration consultant which is required for any migration
anyway. So, I could help you with this migration.

Regards

Volker
