converting all SAP on System i mails into a MySQL database for better search capabi
Hi all,For sure:
The e-mail adresses of all persons won't be shown - so it will be
similar to the SAP on System i forum where you only
find "volker.gueldenpfennigZe...". With this information no SPAMmer
can really deal with.
We are currently preparing a tool that is able to read all
SAP on System i mails since end of 2000 and store them on a web-server
in a MySql database. Then we will provide a special fulltext search
capability on all of the mails - and not only on the last few months
as consolut supports right now. Further, it will be possible to read
through the mails without the "crazy advertisment". And really all
(!) replies to each message are shown below the message, so that you
can navigate very eazy to the information you are really looking for.
We hope, that this new functionality will be available in about 1
month. Currently, the first test versions with about 2000 mails are
very promissing already. We will integrate this in the www.4soi.de
EasyMarketplace.
Current feature ideas:
- viewing the headers of the last 25 mails
- having a X-ref in all mails to all related mails (replies) => you
can find the answers to your problems very easy
- removing the usual consolut advertisment, that is sometimes really a
bit undesirable
- fulltext search through all old (and current) mails
- downloading and using (!) all mails as compressed HTML format
(similar to the most often used SAP help format)
- additional features possible where you are interested in - because
the data is "under our control"
As the mails (and the know-how insite) are then available in a
database, we plan to create helpfiles (most likely CHM) of this,
that can be downloaded (or shipped via CD) from everybody of you.
So, you can even look through the stuff offline in the near future -
likely with the fulltext search as well.
Please let us know what features you are missing, so that we may be
able to implement these as well!
