Integration of the Asset Accounting (FI-AA) and Plant Maintenance (PM) components is supported by synchronized creation and changing of master data. You specify the assignments for this, such as which asset class is assigned to which equipment category, in Customizing. Still, you may have needs that make it necessary to make even more individualized settings.

Using this Customer Exit, you can

  • Determine a unique assignment between the asset class and equipment category
  • Influence this assignment (for example, the generation type of the master record)

In Customizing, you specify, under "Assign Equipment Categories to Asset Classes", the following:

  • How the asset class is determined from data of Plant Maintenance or
  • How the equipment category is determined from data of Asset Accounting

When determining the equipment category from the asset class, the assignment is always unique, since one equipment category is always assigned to one asset class. Using a Customer Exit here is not necessary.

When determining the asset class from the equipment category, the assignment is not always unique. Therefore the system performs step-by-step checks to determine the asset class:

  • Step 1: Searches for asset class using equipment category and object type
  • Step 2: Searches for asset class using object type
  • Step 3: Searches for asset class using equipment category
  • Step 4: Searches for asset class without equipment category or object type

  • If the system finds a uniquely assigned asset class in one of the first three steps, then the asset can be generated automatically without using the customer enhancement.
  • If the system finds more than one entry in the first three steps, then the relevant entry has to be determined using the customer enhancement (parameter C_ANKAZ_REC).
  • If the system finds an entry in the fourth step, then the relevant assignment also has to be found using the enhancement in the C_ANKAZ_REC structure.
To prevent unintentional creation of assets, you also have to explicitly enter the category of the equipment (I_ITOB_REC-EQTYP) to be created in the C_ANKAZ_REC-EQTYP field.

Assignment of fields from asset master and equipment master

In Customizing, you specify under "Assign Master Data Fields of Assets and Equipment" which Asset Accounting and Plant Maintenance fields the system should synchronize when you create or change master data in one or the other. You can define additional fields that are important for you with regard to the integration, but that were not supplied by SAP in the standard system.
