Invalid use of exponentiation symbol (^) in PIC

Message Long Text :

Cause . . . . . : A syntax error was found in the statement. A FORM statement was entered with a PIC format specification that contained an exponentiation symbol (^). The exponentiation symbol is not valid in a PIC format specification that includes a floating symbol (+ - or Å) or a zero suppression digit specifier (Z or *).
Recovery . . . : Correct the PIC parameter. See the BASIC User''s Guide for a complete definition of the allowed format of the array expression.
