Controller &24 contact not successful. Probable remote station problem. (C R)

Cause . . . . . : The system was trying to exchange identifiers with the station when an error occurred. The probable causes are:
-- The controller description on the remote system is not varied on.
-- A configuration problem.
-- A remote hardware problem.
-- A local hardware problem or network problem if on an Ethernet network.
-- A timing or performance problem.
Recovery . . . : Do the following:
-- Contact the remote operator to verify the remote system is not disconnected from the local area network and the controller on the remote system is varied on.
-- Verify the remote adapter address (ADPTADR parameter), source service access point (SSAP parameter) and destination service access point (DSAP parameter) of the local controller description match those of the remote controller.
-- Verify the remote adapter address (ADPTADR parameter), source service access point (SSAP parameter) and destination service access point (DSAP parameter) of the remote controller description match those of the local controller.
-- Verify the adapter address (ADPTADR parameter), source service access point (SSAP parameter) and destination service access point (DSAP parameter) of the local line description match those of the remote controller.
-- Verify that the adapter address specified at the remote system for the local system match the values supplied in the local line and controller description.
-- Increase the local area network connection retry (LANCNNRTY parameter) value.
-- Increase the local area network connection timer (LANCNNTMR parameter) value.
-- Verify the Ethernet transceiver and the attaching cables are connected and working properly.
If the problem continues, report the problem (ANZPRB command).
Possible choices for replying to message . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . :
C -- Cancel recovery and inform any applications waiting for an operation that the recovery has been canceled.
R -- Try the operation one more time.
Technical description . . . . . . . . : The error code is &40: The error is caused by a time-out when exchanging identifiers. The system is trying to identify the remote device. This could be caused by one of the following problems:
-- The remote system power is not ready for operation.
-- The remote system has disconnected from ring.
-- The ADPTADR, SSAP, or DSAP parameters in the controller description do not match.
-- The timer and retry values (LANCNNRTY and LANCNNTMR) on the controller description are too low.
