Cause . . . . . : Error &3 occurred while attempting to create a variable length record file using Distributed Data Management (DDM) file &1 in library &2. Error code reasons are:
1) Record definition can only contain one variable length field and it must be the last field in the record.
2) A key field cannot be a variable length field.
3) CPYF and CPYFRMQRYF cannot create variable length record files.
Recovery . . . : Remove all variable length fields from the record definition or ensure that the record definition only contains one variable length field which is the last field in the definition and is not a key field, then retry the create request. If CPYF or CPYFRMQRYF was being used, create the to-file before copying the file.
Technical description . . . . . . . . : The source will attempt to create a variable length record file if the target is not i5/OS and the following requirements are met:
-- Record definition must contain only one variable length field.
-- The last field must be a variable length field.
-- The last field must not be a key field.
If the target is not i5/OS, variable length fields will be disallowed unless the above criteria are met.
