CPF6768 - Volume on device &1 is write protected. ( OS/400 )
Vendor Master (General Section) CPI1466 during BackupThis documentation is copyright by IBM.
Message : CPF6768
Volume on device &1 is write protected.
Message Long Text :
Cause . . . . . : One of the following occurred:
-- If the volume is a reel tape, the tape volume on device &1 is missing a write-enable ring.
-- If the volume is a cartridge tape, the write protect switch may be set to the wrong position.
-- If the volume is a virtual tape volume, the volume is marked as write protected or is in a dependent image catalog.
-- If device &4 supports logical write protection, then a tape media error may prevent output operations.
Recovery . . . : Do one of the following and try the request again:
-- To write to a reel tape volume, install a write-enable ring.
-- To write to a cartridge tape, set the write protect switch to a position that enables write.
-- To write to a virtual tape volume it must be in a reference or base image catalog and have a write protect value of *NO. Use the Change Image Catalog Entry (CHGIMGCLGE) command to set the write protect value to *NO, or load a reference or base image catalog in the virtual tape device before retrying the operation.
-- If the write protection error is due to a media error, then use a different tape cartridge in device &4.
If the problem continues, contact your service provider.
Technical description . . . . . . . . : Error Log ID &22.
