Cause . . . . . : The 3270 printer emulation device is not available for use. When specifying an emulation device for the EMLDEV parameter, the printer emulation device must be at the appropriate status for the command to run successfully. For a nonswitched line the status is VARIED ON. For a switched line the status is VARIED ON or VARY ON PENDING. You can use the Work with Configuration Status (WRKCFGSTS) command to get the current status of printer emulation device &1 (WRKCFGSTS CFGTYPE(*DEV) CFGD(&1)).
Recovery . . . : Do one of the following:
-- If the status of the printer emulation device is ACTIVE, and you have to use printer emulation device &1, wait and try the request later.
-- If the status of the printer emulation device is ACTIVE, and you do not have to use printer emulation device &1, use another printer emulation device by specifying the EMLDEV, EMLCTL or EMLLOC parameter.
-- If the status of the printer emulation device is not appropriate and does not show ACTIVE status, use the Vary Configuration (VRYCFG) command to get the emulation device to an appropriate status. If the VRYCFG command does not work, the printer emulation device may need to be varied active at the host system as well. Once the printer emulation device is at the appropriate status, try the request again.
