Cause . . . . . : One of the following may have caused the problem:
-- The environment may be electrically noisy.
-- Noise on the telephone line may be causing errors in the stop bit.
-- The remote device may be overloaded and may not be responding within the time-out period.
-- The modem may not be properly grounded.
Recovery . . . : You may choose to ignore this message because your line is operational. Refer to the IBM Systems Hardware Information Center Planning information for information about electrical requirements and noise problem considerations. Consult the local telephone company to have the line tested to verify line quality. Verify the work load on the remote system with the remote operator. Consult the modem manufacturer to determine the proper grounding technique to use. The threshold function may be turned off or changed in the threshold (THRESHOLD) parameter on the CRTLINASC command. To report the problem, start problem analysis (ANZPRB command).
Technical description . . . . . . . . : The threshold counter for stop bits that are not valid, kept by the ASC program, has reached the value specified in the threshold request. This counter is incremented when each of the following errors is encountered:
-- Inter-character time-out with a stop bit error.
-- Receive buffer full with a stop bit error.
-- Stop bit error with record ended with an EOR character.
-- Stop bit error with record ended by a break signal.
