Symptom

Problems with ORACLE TWO_TASK linking
ORA6108 ORA6105 ORA6114

Cause

Various causes - see Solution.

Solution

The following procedure is recommended:

1. ORA6105 remote host is unknown
ORA6114 SID lookup failure
Check the environemnt -- TWO_TASK variable set correctly?
(Caution: data base and SAP System must not be on the same server|)
Solution:
setenv TWO_TASK T::

2. ORA6108
Is a connect to the DB server possible?
ping
If "ping" is "packets transmitted", then either the data base server
is down or network problems exist.

Has the orasrv process been started on the data base server?
a. rlogin as data base user
b. tcpctl stat (status of orasrv)
If not yet started:
tcpctl start

If this procedure does not lead to success, the reason can be
an incorrect socket number in /etc/services. See also Note no. 1042.

3. Installation problems
A local connect with ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID is possible,
a TWO_TASK connect is not successful.

a. Are the authorizations of the ORACLE-executables set correctly?
(Directory: $ORACLE_HOME/bin)

orasrv root/dba -rwsr-x---
oracle ora/dba -rwsr-xr-x
orapop root/dba -rwx--x--x (nur DEC|)

b. Is the entry in /etc/oratab ok?

c. Is the entry in /etc/services ok?
orasrv 1525/tcp oracle
