Selection within SysLog evaluation
Tip-No.: 1724
Symptom
Nothing is found using SysLog evaluation SM21 with several selection
conditions.
Cause
Operating errors.
Solution
There are number of points to watch for:
+ the SysLog is written per machine. What occurs on another computer
cannot be seen in the (local) SysLog of a third computer.
+ the selection conditions in the Transaction SM21 are linked with
AND.
+ sometimes clocks run fast/slow- do not set narrow time limits.
+ leading blanks in selection fields are not permitted.
+ there is a Transaction SM23, that does similar things as SM21, but is
implemented differently.
