SKIP in conjunction with PRINT-CONTROL
Tip-No.: 1742

Symptom

If the statement SKIP TO LINE is used together with PRINT-CONTROL,
a mode abend occurs.

Cause

SKIP TO LINE creates one or more totally empty line before the 'target'
line. If the PRINT-CONTROL sequences spill into one of these empty
lines, this causes an incorrect data access which leads to the mode
abend.

Solution

1. Avoid empty lines by ensuring that something else is always written
into lines in which print control sequences are set.
