Short text

Assigning the ENTER key: consequences
Tip-No.: 1884

Symptom

1.) Warnings cannot be 'pressed away'
2.) No OK code entries (other than system codes: /xxx) have affect.
3.) 'backgroud dynpros (SUPPRESS DIALOG) set a function code

Cause

The ENTER key has been assigned an OK code (CUA interface). This means
ENTER functions like a PF key: the allocated value is placed in the OK
code. Exception (as with PF keys): a system already appears in the OK
code (begins with '/'), this is not overwritten. The normal function of
ENTER (simply closes the entry) is not available). In 'background'
dynpros the ENTER key is simulated. This means that this function
is carried out if a function has been assigned.

Solution

Do not assign the ENTER key, or take the risks described above.
