SET PF-STATUS in function elements
Tip-No.: 2095

Symptom

A SET PF-STATUS in a function element, that at th is point is not
processing a screen of its own (CALL SCREEN), is set globally and
overrides the current PF-STATUS of the caller.
Example:
A function element in the function group SAPLXXXX is called from the
application program SAPMYZZZZ.
SET PF-STATUS 'XXXX' in this function element sets
the status SAPLSXXXX-XXXX
and N O T SAPMYZZZZ-XXXX of the caller.

Cause

The function element does not know which caller PF status is valid. As
a compromise, it sets its own.

Solution

SET PF-STATUS in function elements should only be used in screen
processing (after CALL SCREEN within this function element). All
other uses have the above mentioned side-effect.
