Update to PUT Guidelines

Symptom

Guidelines not always uptodate.

Cause

Many updates, too little time.

Solution

1. A reminder that (as described in the guidelines):

"All log records, that have not been updated or contain errors when
installation begins, are deleted by said installation activity|".
Thus, essential that SM13 is used to perform housekeeping first.
2. Various low-level errors could not be removed from the logs.
Script "put11Eimp1" produces two instances of the error:
E- Interface doesn't exist
Script "put11Eimp2" produces more errors with the interface, plus:
E- table FP500EPW doesn't exist in NTAB.
The mass activater (RDDMASG0) finishes with the error:
AD Program error - no message number transferred
The Report RDDDIC10 produces numerous error messages, that can also be
ignored this time as well.

3. Occassionally, the SQL error 1747 occurs in RDDDIC10.
This error only occurs in certain circumstances.
A useful procedure is often simply to re-start the system. If the
error still occurs, then do following:
Re-start system and then just before starting RDDDIC10 spend ca. 3
minutes occupying the same WP with garbage - e.g clicking all of the
pull-down menus one after the other, call up various transactions,
such as user lists, process overviews etc.. After this, RDDDIC10
often runs without errors||

4. The paragraph with Report RFSTAX00 on page 1-11 of the advance PUT
guidelines no longer applies. Do not perform at customer sites.
12.10.92 Chow: new guidelines do not mention the
Report RFSTAX00.
5. So that Performance Monitor functions correctly, the "Collector"
for operating system information should be run. This is only currently
available under HP, and is called "hpuxcoll". Please change customer
start procedure so that this program is started. The program must not
be stopped. Starting it twice is permitted (program is in executable
directory).
6. Editor does not run after mass activator (until PUT completed).
If you want to view a list with RDDPROTA, select the function
"Display list".
7. The Parameter ztta/roll_area must be set to 2500000 in customer
systems (in /usr/sap/C11/SYS/profile/C11_Dusw.)
8. New authorization for the Performance Monitor. System administrator
should have this added to his user master.
(Maintain user, add Profile S_TOOLS_EX).

Re: creating new NEXTEXTENTs for tables:
- re-start database(with user = orac11)
- /usr/sap/C11/SYS/exe/run/dbnext must be run
(on HP, program runs for approx.15 min.)
Note: the Program dbnext writes a log into the current directory
- requires write authorization.
Must be done before PUT|||

Error in Guidelines, affecting AIX.
On page 1-4:cd /usr/kunde/put, and not: /usr/kunde/C11
On page 1-10: tctl -f /dev/rmt0.1 fsf 2, and not:
tctl -f /dev/rmt0 fsf 2
Gneral note: the AIX tapes were written with a blocksize of 0|
(modify unit before import using chdev)

Errors in Guidelines||
On page 1-11, step 2, the report RSPAHICR should not be run.
It is part of the next report in the Guideline, RS11EPUT.
If you follow the instructions, you will get the error:
"RSPAHIDE not found". Then you must enter the editor with SE38
and remove the line submit report rspahicr and return. The run
RS11EPUT again.

Error in Guidelines|||
SAPLABEL (1st file on the tape) was copied with dd - i.e. please
import with dd ( dd if=/...... of=saplabel ).
The language tape was copied with cpio, please import with cpio
(cpio -ivcdB < /..... ).

Prob. with copyscript.csh in AIX ||| (Guidelines, page 1-15)
The directory /usr/ora/C11/sapscripts/sapbackup must be renamed
to in /usr/ora/C11/sapscripts/backup in AIX installations. Then
copyscripts.csh works.

Error in saptemu/R3trans/disp+work
The corrected members are on the new tapes (hp from 29.10.92 /
dec ??? / ibm ??? / sni 29.10.92).
Import the members:

must run after the import of the SAp kernel. After loading the
