brbackup does not dissolve in init.ora.
Tip-No.: 2424

Symptom

brbackup brings the message
cannot compress ......../cntrl@.dbf

Cause

In file init.ora, it is possible to use the -sign as a place holder
for the ORACLE_SID. When reading, brbackup does not replace this
with ORACLE.SID.

Solution

Avoidance: instead, use ORACLE_SID.
brbackup will be corrected.
