Short text

EXE format error after copying a DB
Tip-No.: 2589

Symptom

After copying an Oracle DB to another AIX computer, a message appears
after starting the B: Could not load program ORACLEC11.
Exe format error. Unknown symbols: FHMPROD, PW_WAIT, PW_POST, PW_CONFIG

Cause

In the normal installation of the DB, the AIX core is expanded.
This expansion is missing after the copy.

Solution

a) Regular instalation of at least the first DB on the computer.
b) copy, but no previous DB exists: file /etc/inittab of the target
computer must be comared from that of the original computer, and
the files specified there must be transferred.
The contents of /etc/inittab is (approximately):
/etc/loadext etc/adspc
/etc/adspcinit
/etc/loadext etc/PW-SYSCALL

In addition, the machine-specific entries must be adapted
(SAPDBHOST in the profile).
