Swap-space on DEC/Ultrix, not enough core
Tip-No.: 2893

Symptom

SAP processes or other processes can be started. Error when creating
Shared Memory or large-scale memory request. Test program "ipclimits"
reports little memory from "Max. Amount...".
Unix command "pstat -s" reports "missing".

Cause

Less swap-space is provided by the operating system than was configured
in the Ultrix kernel. Cause can be that more than one disk partition
was created for swap-space, but Ultrix only uses one swap partition.

Solution

Entire swap-space should be located in one partition, which is set up
as being sufficiently large.
