Default for END-OF-PAGE Lines
Tip-No.: 71

Symptom

The number of END-OF-PAGE lines in the report or program instruction
is different in R/2 and R/3 if an explicit specification is missing:
R/2 default is 1, R/3 default is 0.

Cause

In R/2, the standard setting (1 END-OF-PAGE line) was chosen because
the offsetting of the list from the OK code line by one empty line
was logical to make it easier to read lists on the screen (empty line
between the list and the OK code line). In R/3, the OK code line is
already offset from the list area. In addition, the last line of the
display area is intended as a status line (page information).
The default setting can therefore do without an END-OF-PAGE line.

Solution

If you also want one (or more) END-OF-PAGE line(s) in R/3, you can
force this via an explicit specification in the REPORT or PROGRAM
instruction: e.g. REPORT xxxx LINE-COUNT 20(2) forces 2
END-OF-PAGE lines.
