Lock in variant maintenance

Symptom

No locks are set when maintaining variants.

Cause

No locks can be set when maintaining variants, as the variants name
is accessed only when it is being saved.

Solution

When saving a variant, a warning is always output in case the variant
already exists. The saving can then, if necessary, be stopped.
The warning also contains the name of the last person to change it. -
Thus, every user is told that he is about to overwrite the variant of
a colleague.
