OS2 program terminates with protection violation

Symptom

Abend in an OS2 program with SYS1943:
A program caused a protection violation.

Cause

Programming error in an OS2 program leads to the overwriting of
protected memory areas. In this case, the relevant program is halted.

Solution

The developers responsible require the following information:
Session Title:
SYSnnnn (usually SYS1943)
CS= (Code Segment)
IP= (Instruction Pointer)
Version of the program being run.

Should the OS2 terminal crash:
In this instance, the Session Title is the same as the last title in
the primary window; this info. is not very useful.
Sometimes, the so-called terminal dispatcher still runs after the
the terminal crashes.
Therefore, after a 'Protection violation', close all your SAP windows,
enter the OS2 full screen session (via the main group) and enter the
following commands:
d:
cd saptemu
killtemu

If a terminal process refuses to die:
d:
cd saptemu
killtrp

Be careful with these actions: in both cases, all SAP windows are
shut down without confirmation.
