Quality Management

Use

As of SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ECC 6.0, Industry Extension Catch Weight Management (IS-CWM 605), the CWM, Finalization of Architectural Change and New Processes (/CWM/CM_2) business function is available:

Adaptation of inspection lot processes to CWM requirements

To adapt inspection lot processing to the requirements of a CWM system, the database tables for managing inspection lots have been enhanced with CWM-specific fields. This involves inspection lots for Catch Weight materials that are relevant to inventry, the inspection lot origin:

  • 01 Goods receipt
  • 04 Goods receipt from production
  • 05 Other goods receipts
  • 08 Stock transfer
  • 09 Recurring inspections

These enhancements mean that stock-relevant transactions relating to an inspection lot can now also be managed in the parallel unit of measure quantity in addition to the existing quantity in the base unit of measure. Transactions relating to the inspection lot that do not result in stock-relevant postings continue only to take into account the quantity in base unit of measure. Inspection lot related BAPIS

  • BAPI_INSPLOT_GETDETAIL
  • BAPI_INSPLOT_SETUSAGEDECISION

now also return the quantity in parallel unit of measure for stock-relevant inspection lots for Catch Weight materials. This does not apply to inspection lots that you created prior to the table enhancement. Based on this table enhancement, the functional enhencements described in the following have been implemented.

Change and display inspection lot

To be able to process stock-relevant inspection lots for Catch Weight materials, the appropriate transactions or screens have been enhanced with the field entries for parallel units of measure.

Adjustment of inspection lot actual quantity

When you adjust the inspection lot actual quantity, you can change both quantities (in base unit of measure and in parallel unit of measure) for stock-relevant inspections lots for CW materials. The corresponding material postings are made in MM. In a CWM system, the corresponding restrictions regarding the changable inspection lot apply as in a non-CWM system.

Stock transfers

For the stock transfer of an inspection lot actual quantity of a CW material to a different storage location or a different plant, the stock transfer quantity is also displayed in parallel unit of measure in dialog mode. As in a non-CWM system, you cannot make a transfer posting for partial quantities of an inspection lot. You cannot change the quantity in parallel unit of measure.

Usage decision

The parallel quantity of the quantity inspection stock can change during the quality check, for example, the weight can increase due to absorption of water or decrease due to drying out. This can result in there being a remaining amount (positive or negative) for the credit of the inspection lot for the parallel quantity. If you want to clear the entire logistic quantity with a differing parallel quantity in the usage decision, you are informed of the remaining amount by a warning message. Once you have confirmed this warning message, the remaining parallel quantity is automatically cleared by the system. You can define the message type in Customizing, and set whether the message is displayed as a warning or error message.

Note:

The following is an exception: If the stock in quality inspection is found in the goods receipt blocked stock, no remaining amount is allowed. If you want to clear the entire logistic quantity of this inspection lot in the usage decision, you also have to clear the entire parallel quantity.

Inspection lot creation due to mass changes to inspection setups in the material master

In the case of mass changes to inspection setups in the material master, you may with certain constellations encounter the automatic creation of inspection lots in the background. If a stock-relevent inspection type is to be activated despite existing QM stock, an inspection lot is created. The inspection lot quantity of this inspection lot corresponds with the current QM stock in both units of measure.

Note:

Only one inspection lot is created if the base quantity and the parallel quantity of the QM stock are positive. If this is not the case, you have to carry out a physical inventory of the QM stock for this material beforehand.

Recurring inspections for batches

Recurring inspections for materials managed in batches are controlled using a report the user can execute manually or that can be executed automatically by the system. In the case of CW materials, when you create recurring inspections the quantities are also determined in both units of measure.

Adaptation of the quality notification to CWM requirements

The following activities are also supported for CW materials using the action box in the quality notification:

  • Transfer posting unrestricted to blocked
  • Transfer posting unrestricted to QM stock
  • Transfer posting blocked to unrestricted
  • Scrapping
  • Create return delivery (for CW materials only, if there is a purchase order)
