/CWM/CM_3: Functions in the Inventory Management Area (New)

Use

As of SAP Enhancement Package 6 for SAP ECC 6.0, Industry Extension Catch Weight Management (IS-CWM 606), the CWM, Repetitive Manufacturing and Additional Processes (/CWM/CM_3) business function is available.

Default quantities in goods movement

If you change the entry quantity (quantity or unit of measure) or the parallel entry quantity (quantity or unit of measure) for a catch weight material for a Goods Movement (transaction MIGO), the system calculates the default for the other related entry quantity in accordance with an improved default logic.

Previously, the system only calculated the default logic for quantities based on the plan conversion factors defined in the material master.

From SAP Enhancement Package 6, the system calculates the default logic depending on the data entered by the user:

  • If an assignment to existing inventories is possible, the system determines a conversion factor from the unrestricted-use stock.
  • If no assignment to existing inventories is possible due to insufficient entries being made by the user (meaning the Plant entry is missing), the system determines the default value as previously by using the plan conversion factor from the material master.

This new default logic is delivered as fallback implementation of BAdI Default Data Logic for Quantities in Different Application Components (/CWM/MAIN_QUAN_PRPSL_EHP5). Alternatively, the user can if necessary implement a separate logic for detemining the default value for quantities.

Note
If you have already implemented the existing BAdI /CWM/DEFAULT_MIGO from earlier releases for the default logic, the system does not automatically use BAdI /CWM/MAIN_QUAN_PRPSL_EHP5.

Similarly new for the default logic is that the default quantity is calculated independently of the dimension of the base unit of measure (logistics unit of measure). The system proposes the corresponding quantity in an alternative unit of measure for a quantity change in logistics unit of measure. However, if you change the alternative unit of measure, the system does not calculate a new default for the logistics unit of measure.

Net posting for goods receipt (purchase)

You can now use the net posting functions when posting the goods receipt for both catch weight materials and non-catch weight materials. Previously this function was only available for the invoice receipt.

The Goods Receipt (transaction MIGO) has been adapted CWM-specific for this function.

Stock transfers

With business function Cross-Company Code Stock Transfer and Actual Costing (LOG_MM_SIT) additional functions are made available for cross-company code and company code internal stock transfers. You can now use these stock transfer categories with optimal functions and design for both catch weight and non-catch weight materials in a catch weight system.

Movement types for stock transfer returns

Stock transfer returns are now also supported for CW materials. Movement types one-step stock transfer (movement type 677) and two-step stock transfer (movement type 671) are available to you within the same company code.

Movement types for blocked stock

Postings to and from the valuated blocked stock are now supported for catch weight materials. The following movement types are available for this:

  • Movement type 107: Goods receipt to valuated blocked stock
  • Movement type 108: Goods receipt to valuated blocked stock - reversal
  • Movement type 109: Goods receipt from valuated blocked stock
  • Movement type 110: Reversal (for movement type 109)

Movement type 309 for transfer postings

Up to SAP Enhancement Package 5 only a transfer posting between standard materials or a transfer posting between catch weight materials was possible. These transfer postings were dependent on the identical type of the materials, the base units, the valuation quantities and parallel quantities. Transfer postings between standard materials and catch weight materials was blocked.

Transfer posting Material to Material (movement type 309) is now supported for other constellations.

The table describes possible transfer posting constellations:

Left material (LM) Right material (RM) Rules for base unit of measure (BUoM) and parallel unit of measure (PUoM)
Non-catch weight material Non-catch weight material BUoM (LM) = BUoM (RM)
Non-catch weight material Catch weight material BUoM (LM) = BUoM (RM)
Catch weight material Non-catch weight material BUoM (LM) = BUoM (RM) or
  PUoM (LM) = BUoM (RM)
Catch weight material Catch weight material BUoM (LM) = PUoM (RM) and
  PUoM (LM) = BUoM (RM)
  or
BUoM (LM) = BUoM (RM) and
  PUoM (LM) = PUoM (RM)

Adapting the BI Extractors for Inventory Management and Valuation

If you work with price types (flexible material prices) you have defined yourself with business function /CWM/FMP, you can now transfer these flexible material prices to a Business Information Warehouse system (BW system) with a newly developed extractor. This means you have the option of using your own defined price types in analyses in a BW system.

DataSource Description Extract Structure
/FMP/MP_MATERIAL_PRICES Flexible material prices /FMP/MP_PRICES_BW_EXTRACT
/FMP/MP_PRICE_TYPE_ATTR Flexible material prices price types /FMP/ROXEN60109
/FMP/MP_PRICE_TYPE_TEXT Flexible material prices price types text /FMP/ROXEN60108

Note
The new BI extractor is available in the standard extractors following activation of the business function. You can also display the DataSource and extract structures with DataSource Repository (transaction RSA2), and carry out tests without connecting to a BW system with Extractor Checker (transaction RSA3).

Archiving

The options for archiving have been adapted corresponding to the new CWM functions in the Inventory Management area: You can archive the material master data of a catch weight material in accordance with the same rules as a standard material.

Effects on Existing Data

The CWM adaptation means:

  • You can continue to use non-catch weight materials as in a non-catch weight system.
  • For catch weight materials, you can process and display quantities in parallel unit of measure in the new functions.
