/CWM/CM_3: CWM, Repetitive Manufacturing and Additional Processes (New)

Use

As of SAP Enhancement Package 6 for SAP ECC 6.0, Industry Extension Catch Weight Management (IS-CWM 606), the CWM, Repetitive Manufacturing and Additional Processes (/CWM/CM_3) business function is available. With this business function, the integration in ERP has been further improved, and you can use a variety of other ERP standard functions and processes in Catch Weight Management as well.

Catch Weight Management is aimed at the requirements of the consumer products industry in general, and the food processing industry in particular, and offers processes and functions with which you can manage materials within the Supply Chain in two independent units of measure (base unit of measure and the parallel unit of measure) in the inventory. It is usual with a catch weight material for the inventory valuation (valuation unit) to be based on the parallel unit of measure and not on the base unit of measure.

You can display at any time an exact inventory management in two units of measure and the valuation based on this.

New CWM-specific enhancements are available to you with enhancement package 6. For more information, see the following release notes:

  1. /CWM/CM_3: Functions in the Repetitive Manufacturing Area (New)
  2. /CWM/CM_3: Functions in the Material Master Area (New)
  3. /CWM/CM_3: Functions in the Handling Unit Management Area (New)
  4. /CWM/CM_3: Functions in the Inventory Management Area (New)
  5. /CWM/CM_3: Functions in the Delivery (LE-SHP) and Transfer Orders (LE-WM) Area (New)
  6. /CWM/CM_3: Functions in the Balance Sheet Valuation Area (New)

Effects on Existing Data

New customer

When you activate Catch Weight Management in your system for the first time using business function CWM, Repetitive Manufacturing and Additional Processes (/CWM/CM_3), you can continue to access your dataset (master and movement data) afterwards. You should note the restrictions on the further use of existing data detailed in SAP Note 1564572. Once you have successfully activated business function CWM, Repetitive Manufacturing and Additional Processes (/CWM/CM_3), you can use the Financial Accounting, Controlling and Materials Management components in a CWM system more or less as in the standard system. For more information, see SAP Note 1564572.

Migration customer:

If you use a CWM release with components Logistics Inventory Management Engine (LIME) and Inventory Management (FIN-BAC-INV) (SAP Enhancement Package 3 for SAP ERP 6.0 and earlier), data migration is essential.

If such a data migration is necessary, contact your SAP consultant and SAP CWM Solution Management as soon as possible.

For additional information about the required activities for a CWM migration, see the application documentation under Industries in SAP ERP -> SAP Catch Weight Management -> Activation of Catch Weight Management and in SAP Note 1450225.
