/DSD/BF: Status Management with Tour Status (New)

Use

As of SAP ECC 6.0, Enterprise Extension SCM, Enhancement Package 3 (EA-SCM 603), business function Enhancement of the DSD Process (/DSD/BF), you can use a comprehensive status, the tour status, for the DSD process. The tour status connects all applications that are involved in the DSD process and represents the end result of a process step. The DSD process is complex and comprises different components in the ERP backend, middleware, and from the DSD client (mobile device), which all have their own, separate status management.

Up to now, each individual component in the DSD process had a status, which was independent of the other components. The respective status did not have a direct effect on the overall DSD process, however.

The task of the tour status is to monitor all tours throughout all components that are involved in the DSD process. The tour status enhances all existing statuses of the individual components. The status management for each component is not affected. The tour status connects all the individual statuses, which has the following advantages:

• The tour status allows progress tracking of each individual tour in the DSD process.

• The tour status allows components to be checked on the basis of the status of other components.

• With a particular tour status, you can trigger follow-up actions.

You can now specify, for example, that the system locks the Change Shipment transaction (VT02N) if the tour is already transferred to the mobile device.

• You can use the tour status as a maintenance tool by checking on the basis of the current tour status which components have already been planned, carried out, or cancelled.

The tour status as a new overall status features as a new field on various DSD-related interfaces, such as the settlement cockpit.

Note

You can use the tour status for the paper-based DSD scenario, and also for the DSD scenario with mobile devices.
