/DSD/DEX: DEX Enablement for DSD (New)

Use

As of SAP ECC 6.0, Enterprise Extension SCM, Enhancement Package 4 (EA-SCM 604), business function DEX Enablement for DSD (/DSD/DEX), you can use the mobile Direct Store Delivery scenario based on the guidelines of the DEX standard.

Up to now, drivers could only make general changes or any changes requested by the customer manually on the mobile device during the tour.

The driver's mobile device can now be connected to the customer system, which also uses the DEX standard, and trigger a data exchange (quantity changes) automatically based on the guidelines of the DEX standard. This means that drivers no longer have to make manual entries on the mobile device.

If you use DEX, it is released for the entire tour: The driver can decide for each customer visit and delivery if processing should be carried out manually or using DEX. This ensures that delivery data can be processed automatically for customers who use DEX, and that the driver can still work with customers on the tour who do not use DEX.

Note

SAP delivers the DEX version 005030UCS. If you use a different DEX version, you must make Customizing settings for the new version. For more information, see the documentation on the IMG activity Define Structures for Different Versions (/DSD/DX_CVERS_VC).

Note

The DEX standard is based on different versionings. Only one version is installed on the mobile device. The DEX version of the mobile device determines which DEX version should be used by the customer system. To guarantee the highest possible level of compatibility between the mobile device and an ERP system, customers must always have the two most recent DEX versions installed on their systems.

Effects on Existing Data

The following user interface elements are new:

Transaction Program/Screen UI elements
/DSD/DX_AUDIT /DSD/DX_AUDIT Display DEX Data for Audit

Effects on System Administration

Effects on Customizing

Using DEX is optional and is determined by Customizing. In Customizing, you can define whether DEX is used globally for all mobile tours or just for one group of drivers.

You make the settings for this function in Customizing for Direct Store Delivery, by choosing Handheld Connectivity -> DSD Connector Settings -> Settings for Mobile Devices -> Specify Settings for Mobile Devices.
