/DSD/ARC: Archiving for Direct Store Delivery (New)

Use

As of SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0, Enterprise Extension SCM (EA-SP 605), the business function Archiving for Direct Store Delivery (/DSD/ARC) is available. You can use this business function in Direct Store Delivery (DSD) to archive visit lists and settlement documents with the SAP Archiving Framework (ADK) in the SAP archiving solution. The Direct Store Delivery component has two new archiving objects:

  • Archiving object /DSD/SL can be used to archive settlement documents.
  • Archiving object /DSD/VC can be used to archive visit lists.

Effects on Existing Data

The system does not archive DSD-specific master data. DSD-specific master data is an enhancement of the standard master data and must be deleted in standard archiving to ensure data consistency. The archiving requirements are met by archiving the standard tables, that is, tables that are not DSD-specific. Archiving is generally carried out for the following reasons:

  • To prevent the data volume from continuously increasing
  • To improve system performance when accessing the database
  • To fulfill legal documentation requirements

As well as the standard checks, the system executes additional DSD-specific checks if archiving runs are triggered from other standard applications. For DSD, for example, the system checks whether or not a customer that is to be archived is still being used in a DSD-specific visit list. If all checks are successful, meaning the master data is no longer used in DSD or other standard applications, the system archives the master data and deletes the corresponding DSD-specific master data tables.

To ensure data consistency, the system carries out checks at the level of customer master data, material master data, and equipment master data. The system checks if the Direct Store Delivery component is activated, meaning the DSD switch in Customizing has been set. If DSD is active, the system also runs the following checks.

  • Customer master
A DSD customer cannot be archived if still used in a visit list or in the Route Accounting Database (RADB). The system does not archive any DSD-relevant customer master data.
  • Material master
A material cannot be archived if there is a data record for this material in the Route Accounting Database (RADB). The system does not archive any DSD-relevant material master data.
  • Equipment master
The system checks table /DSD/RP_MOTRCAT (Means of Transport Type for Each Equip.Cat. and Vehicle Type) for combinations of equipment category and equipment type that are DSD-relevant. The system does not archive any DSD-relevant equipment master data.
Pieces of equipment with combinations of equipment category and equipment type that are not in table /DSD/RP_MOTRCAT, are not DSD-relevant.
