Short text
Sales Order Costing with Static Assembly Processing
Description
In Release 4.5A in static assembly processing with manufacturing orders, you can specify in the requirements class whether:
- The planned costs calculated on the basis of a preliminary cost estimate for the manufacturing order should be transferred, or whether
- A sales order cost estimate can be created
Up to now, in assembly processing 2 it was not possible to create a sales order cost estimate - the system always transferred the planned costs of the manufacturing order into the SD conditions.
In Release 4.5A you can create a sales order cost estimate with assembly processing 2 and transfer it into the SD conditions.
Examples of when you might want to create a sales order cost estimate with assembly type 2:
- When the costing method product costing is used for a sales order cost estimate, the system creates a cost component split, while there is no such split for the preliminary cost estimate of a manufacturing order (with manufacturing orders the system only displays a cost component split dynamically for informational purposes).
- The transfer of a cost component split that is based on a sales order cost estimate to Profitabilty Analysis (CO-PA) is useful when you are using a valuated sales order stock and the standard price is based on the sales order cost estimate (see also: Val. strategy).
- The control parameters for the transfer of a cost component split that is based on asales order cost estimate are in Customizing for Profitability Analysis under: Define access to material costing.
- When you use a nonvaluated sales order stock preliminary costing of an assembly order does not supply the complete planned costs. To get the complete planned costs, you can create a sales order cost estimate and transfer it to the conditions.

Further notes
With assembly types 1, 3, and 4 you can always create a sales order cost estimate.
For detailed information on the valuated and nonvaluated sales order stock, refer to the document Product Cost by Sales Order.
