ALE Technology
Scope of Functions
In Release 4.6A new developments in Application Link Enabling are:
- Easier to Use Interface (Enjoy Initiative)
- The user interface has been improved and ALE functions are much easier to use.
- Examples include the new task-orientated ALE Implementation Guide (IMG), distribution model maintenance with definable templates and the new functions for processing IDocs manually.
- Using Templates to Maintain the Distribution Model
- SAP has developed a tool to create templates for modelling ALE business processes.
- Templates can be created by customers as well as by SAP.
- Each template contains a description of a business process including the required message types/BAPIs and associated filters.
- The template can be used to generate entries in the distribution model, ensuring that all the message types/BAPIs and filters required for a particular business process are modelled correctly. This makes it much easier to model a business process.
- The entries generated in the distribution model can be changed manually afterwards, if required.
- Synchronization of Customizing Data
- In an ALE integrated system Customizing data must be synchronized system-wide.
The distribution of customizing objects has to be modelled and transported to the receiving systems.
- The tools provided for this are:
- Modelling
- Maintaining distribution groups for customizing objects
- Maintaining the distribution model
- Projecting customizing data in an IMG project
- Distributing distribution groups to the receiving systems
- Generating distribution groups from existing filter objects of message type CONDAT
- For more information see the ALE Implementation Guide under Synchronization of Customizing Data.
- ALE Transport Management
- Generating and sending ALE transport requests
- Workflow-controlled import of ALE transport requests
- Consolidating and forwarding ALE transport requests
- For more information see the area menu ALE Administration.
- Enhancements to the BAPI-ALE Interface Generation
- Objects generated in the outbound and inbound interfaces can be transported separately.
- The BAPI-ALE interface supports the processing of IDoc packets in ALE inbound processing
- Enhanced Data Filtering
- In the ALE outbound interface, full filtering and filtering by field is supported in addition to content-dependent filtering (table parameters).
- Filtering must be activated in the distribution model.
- Central Monitoring of R/3 Systems
- All R/3 Systems in an ALE integrated system can be centrally monitored using the CCMS ALE monitor.
- The monitor provides an overview of the following ALE performance attributes of your R/3 Systems:
-
,,-,,Change pointers for IDocs
,,-,,IDocs in outbound processing
,,-,,tRFC queue
,,-,,IDocs in inbound processing
- If the defined threshold values are exceeded, alerts are triggered and displayed in the overview screen.
- You have to define the ALE monitoring objects in the ALE Implementation Guide. These then represent a group of selection options for IDoc attributes and are used for evaluation purposes.
- The CCMS ALE Monitor can be started from the ALE Administration area menu.
- Manual IDoc Processing with Enhanced Functionality
- Information about IDocs is organized hierarchically by status group, individual status status, message type and error message.
- You can display the IDocs, process them immediately or restrict the selection by status group and then process them.
- Details of communication errors can also be displayed.
