New Functions in Material Costing

Scope of Functions

A range of new and improved functions are now available in material costing:

  • No Costing
From Release 4.6A, you can exclude materials explicitly from the cost estimate through a setting in the material master. This setting is an indicator called No costing in the costing view of the material master. When you turn on the indicator, the material is excluded from the selection and BOM explosion processes. Consequently, the material is not costed, and no cost component split is created for it. If the material is included as a valuation-relevant component in the costing of another material, the system uses a price from the material master.
  • Explanation Facilities
This function provides a detailed analysis of the costing results by accessing data such as the material master or other master and costing data.

  • Other Cost Bases
Until Release 4.6A, you could display the costs based on the costing lot size, the price unit, or on a quantity which you entered. From Release 4.6A, you can also display the costs based on the input quantity in the costed multilevel BOM.

Material costing now has a new user interface design, the features of which are as follows:

  • Standardization of the layout for the material cost estimate with quantity structure, the material cost estimate without quantity structure, and the additive cost estimate
  • Use of tab pages to display information about a material cost estimate
  • Screen can easily be adapted to the user's requirements
  • Conversion of lists, logs, and reports to the ABAP List Viewer and predefined display variants, such as for:
  • Itemization, cost component split and costed multilevel BOM

  • Overviews of costing levels and materials

  • Error log

You can change these display variants, or define new ones.
