Multilevel Unit Costing
Scope of Functions
Unit costing is a tool for planning the costs of various objects, such as materials, internal orders, sales order items, and WBS elements.
From Release 4.6A, you can also use multilevel unit costing for
- material cost estimates without quantity structure
- base planning objects
Multilevel unit costing differs from the 'classic' (single-level) unit costing in that it offers a range of new functions, including the following:
- Dividing the screen into various sections, such as
- costing structure
- worklist (templates)
- detailed lists, for example to display the error log or itemization
- list screen or costing information, such as to edit the list screen of the unit cost estimate or to display a cost estimate with quantity structure
- Costing structure shown in hierarchical form
- The use of a worklist from which you can easily access frequently used master data and cost estimates, such as internal activities, business processes, material cost estimates, and base planning objects
- Drag & drop functions which you can use to move items from one section to another, for example from the worklist into the cost estimate
- Functions available through the right mouse button, including:
- Search for existing material cost estimates or base planning objects
- Adding existing material cost estimates or base planning objects to the costing structure
- Editing the worklist, such as inserting items
- Adapting the screen to the user's individual requirements
You can acccess the functions of multilevel unit costing by choosing
- Accounting -> Controlling -> Product Cost Controlling -> Product Cost Planning -> Material Costing -> Cost Estimate Without Quantity Structure -> Maintain Multilevel
or
- Accounting -> Controlling -> Product Cost Controlling -> Product Cost Planning -> Reference and Simulation Costing -> Edit Base Planning Object - Multilevel
