Provident Fund - New Way of Handling

Scope of Functions

The handling of provident funds has been improved upon, so that provident funds are now:

  • More intuitive

  • Transparent to the user

You can now maintain provident funds (in the same manner as pension funds) through customizing in the IMG: Personnel Administration -> Payroll data -> Social Insurance ZA -> Maintain Retirement Funds. The split between employee and employer contribution is therefore already captured in the customizing tables. In the section Company, you specify whether the company is a pension fund or provident fund provider.

In the infotype Social Insurance SA (0150), you advise a retirement fund (which is either a pension fund or a provident fund) in the tab strip Retirement in the fields Company and Fund . No other additional settings are necessary, such as the Social Insurance indicator or contribution type.

If a provident fund has been chosen, the payroll function WUPM will process the provident fund and return the following wage types (which represent contributions as advised in the customizing tables):

  • /360 EE contribution to Provident Fund

  • /361 ER contribution to Provident Fund

  • /xxxTotal Contribution to the Provident Fund (the name is advised customizing)

Note: There is no more specific processing for provident funds in personnel calculation rule WS33.

Effects on Data Transfer

Since provident funds have been handled in many different ways by customers in the past, it is not possible for SAP to provide a comprehensive conversion report which takes into account the various adaptions from all customers.

However, if you previously stored provident fund information in the system prior to this release, you can perform the following steps to store an employee's provident fund information using this more intuitive method:

  1. Create the provident fund in customizing.
  2. Delimit the old social insurance record.
  • In the SAP Easy Accessscreen, choose Maintain HR Master Data.

  • In the Maintain HR Master Datascreen, enter the employee's Personnel no. and infotype Social Insurance SA (0150).

  • Choose Copy.

The Copy Social Insurance SA screen appears.
  • In the From field, enter the relevant date. (Based on this information, the system will create a new record and delimit the old record).

  • For the new record, select (from the tab strip Retirement) the relevant provident fund Company and Fund. Save your entry.
