Short text
Standard Occupational Categories (SOC)
Use
SOC codes have been introduced into the system in order to meet SETA (Sector Education & Training Authority) requirements for workplace skills plans. The workplace skills plan is currently not part of SAP standard functionality, but will be delivered in the near future.
SAP recommends that you link SOC codes to Jobsin the System. However, if your local SETA requires you to link SOC codes to Positions in the System, this is also possible.
When using the Employment Equity queries, you can add the field SOCCD (Standard Occupational Query Code) , which has been added to the Infotype Organizational Assignment(0001).
Effects on Existing Data
The view Link Job to Occupational category - Employment equity(V_T5W13) is no longer used. Therefore, if you have existing data in the view (V_T5W13), you must run the conversion report Migrate Job Attribut Occ. Cat. from table T5W13 to T5W15(RPU46CW0) to convert data from the table (T5W13) to the table Assign Job to SOC Code Allocation (South Africa) (T5W15). Entries in the table T5W15 are time dependent. On the selection screen of the report, you can choose whether you want to assign the job dates from the table Jobs(T513) or whether you would like to enter any other date to be entered on directly on the report screen. SAP recommends that you use the Job dates.
Note: Even if you will not be using the SOC codes, you must also run this conversion report if you are using the Employment Equityfunctionality in the System.
Effects on Data Transfer
Effects on System Administration
Effects on Customizing
- In the view Maintain SOC Codes (South Africa)(V_T5W14), you must maintain the SOC codes for your organization.
- As mentioned above, you can link Jobsto SOC codes. This data is maintained in the view Assign Job to SOC Code Allocation (South Africa) (V_T5W15) (which is recommended by SAP).
- If your SETA requires you to maintain SOC codes to Positionsrather than to Jobs, you must maintain this data in the table Assign position to SOC Code Allocation (South Africa) (V_T5W16).Note: In the SAP Queries, the data in this table will override any data in the view Assign Job to SOC Code Allocation (South Africa) (V_T5W15) which was copied by the conversion report (if you had existing data in the table (V_T5W13).
- As an alternative to the steps as mentioned above (in this section), you can also use the transaction /PP01 to assign the SOC codes to Jobs or Position:
- In the field Object type, choose whether you would like to record Jobs or Positions.
- In the Object ID field, enter the ID number of the Job or Positionin question.
- Then, select the infotype Equity Attributes (ZA) (1633). Note: If this infotype is not in your Activelist, choose Settings -> Country Specific Infotypes , then select For the following countries, enter ZAand then choose Enter.
- Then choose Change.
- In the field SOC Code, select the relevant SOC code for the occupational category.
- Save your entry.
Note: If you would like to delimit the attributes for the Job or Positionwith the transaction /PP01, we recommend that you delimit the date on the Detail screen.
