Improved Performance using RFC during Depreciation Posting

Description

The depreciation posting program RABUCH00 was changed to use Basis technology for parallel processing. As a result, it is possible to distribute the work load to several servers and work processes, which considerably reduces the overall runtime.

In addition, the program now offers the option of directly posting the depreciation posting documents, instead of creating a batch input session. You can choose this option using a report parameter. When you use this function, the step of processing the batch input session is no longer required, which again considerably reduces the overall runtime for depreciation posting. As compared to posting using the batch input session, the system creates fewer documents when you choose the direct posting option. However, these documents have more line items (approximately 200).

Effects on System Administration

In order to use parallel processing, you have to set up a server group that is analog to the logon groups. Resources in the form of application servers are thereby assigned to this server group. Enter the server group as a parameter when starting the programs. When you do so, processing is automatically distributed to this server.

You activate direct posting of depreciation posting documents by setting the parameter for this in the selection screen of the depreciation posting program. However, before you use this function, you have to make sure that Customizing for document creation is set up correctly and has been thoroughly tested. When you use the direct posting option, there is no longer any dialog mode as there was for batch input, which can make it more difficult to recognize an incorrect Customizing setting.
