Desktop User Interface Improvements (New)

Use

As of SAP AII 4.0 the following new features are available in the desktop user interface (UI):

  • The menu is divided into four categories: Execution, Monitoring, Exception Management (new), and Searches(new).
  • The Pack UI is renamed Pack Using Conveyor , reflecting its design to support only fixed devices with a conveyor (regular packing is done with the mobile pack transaction).
  • The Load UI (used to display the loading status rather than to execute loading) is removed from the menu. To see the loading status, you use Execution Status.
  • You can specify whether the system chooses a given tag encoding type (for example, SGTIN-64, SGTIN-96) when you commission tags.
  • The Document Status UI is renamed Documentand is moved to the Searchesmenu. It now displays an Actiontab and a Document Contexttab, allowing you to drill down to document and action details.
  • The Document Maintenance UI is renamed Maintain Document.
  • The Object Query UI is renamed Objectand is moved to the Searchesmenu. The UI is enhanced to support searches by object context fields (such as returnable transport item status) and the label EPCis changed to ID, since not all RFID tagged items are EPC tags. Shop floor users (for example, supervisors) can use another search, the Observation search, to verify which actions have been executed (actions and action objects recorded in SAP AII) by a certain RFID device, or in a certain location, without having to reference a document.
  • Execution Status, a new monitoring UI, is added. It displays near real -time execution status (for example, pack or load status) for a document using a time trigger feature to auto-refresh the UI.
  • Exception Handling, a new exception management transaction, is added to the Exception Managementmenu. It allows shop floor users to perform the following tasks: manually confirm read, manually confirm correction, and manually complete document.
  • The UI is now entirely Web-based except for master data maintenance, Customizing, Business Intelligence (BI) and CCMS reporting, application logs, and tools (SAP AII Testing Tool). These functions are typically used by administrators and remain available in the SAP GUI only.
