APO-ATP_BF: Enhancement in Product Allocation

Use

Status of the Characteristics Combination

As of Release 3.0A (First Customer Shipment and Support Package 1) you can set the status of a characteristics combination in the characteristics combination directory to neutral results.

Previously you could use the status actively or inactively in the characteristics combination directory. It is thereby specified whether a characteristics combination can be used or not. The product allocations of inactive characteristics combinations are ignored in product allocation. Only product allocations of active characteristics combinations are used in product allocation.

If you give a characteristics combination the status neutral results, product allocation is carried out. The result of product allocation does not however change the confirmation of the availability check. The product allocation assignment is updated and a shortage can be checked via the Alert Monitor.

You can then use the neutral results characteristics combinations if, for example, you want to deliver everything to certain customers - independent of the product allocation if the quantity is available (product availability check) but only want to assign a certain quantity to other customers. Product allocation then restricts certain customers instead of reserving quantities for them.

In the product allocation display the status neutral results is displayed if a neutral results characteristics combination is involved.

Note that the Global ATP menu has changed as of Release 3.0A (FCS + SP1). You will find the product allocation display from SAP Easy Access via Global ATP Reporting Product Allocations. You change the status of a characteristics combination from SAP Easy Access via Global ATP Environment Product Allocations Characteristics Combinations.

Connection to Planning Area

Within product allocation, the planning area is supported as of Release 3.0A (FCS + SP1). Product allocation was previously supplied from Demand Planning InfoCubes.

The planning area is used as a common data pool for Demand Planning and product allocation. The planning areas are created in Demand Planning and facilitate an immediate data exchange between planning and product allocation. Planning and product allocation can, however, take place separately.

If you have made the connection to the planning area, you can decide whether you want to carry out data access in product allocation directly in the planning area (that is, online in liveCache) or make a comparison of the data using the following reports either manually or in the background:

  • Adopt data from the planning area
  • Transfer data to the planning area

The characteristics combinations are adopted into the planning area using the following reports. This adoption is necessary in each case so that the status necessary for product allocation can be set in the characteristics combinations.

  • Characteristics combination to the planning area
  • Characteristics combination from the planning area

You will find these reports in SAP Easy Access under Global ATP--> -->Environment--> Product Allocations-->Connection

You make the connection to the planning area in Customizing for Global ATP under Product Allocations-->Maintain connection to planning area.

Further Information

You will find further information on the planning area in S&DP Administration Release Information.
