APO-ATP-RBA: Location Determination Activity

Use

As of Release 3.0A (First Customer Shipment and Support Package 1) you can assign a vehicle and a check mode to the location determination activity in Integrated Rule Maintenance.

Previously in the location determination activity you could define if Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) was called during location determination. The way it works is that the settings from the location determination activity of the availability check are used with settings that are available both in the location determination activity as well as in the check instructions (for example, calling PP/DS). You can therefore control further processes (like, for example, calling PP/DS) more precisely using the location determination activity. This means however that, for example in a substitution group in which you only want to partially call Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling for location determination, explicit location determination activities of the type availability check only, no production must be maintained. Another possibility is to completely switch off the call to PP/DS in the check instructions.

Note here that the Global ATP menu has changed as of Release 3.0A (FCS + SP1). You will find Integrated Rule Maintenance in SAP Easy Access under Master Data Rule Maintenance Integrated Rule Maintenance.

Check Mode

You can assign a check mode to the location determination activity. You thereby define for location determination which basic method or combination of basic methods should be used in the availability check.

Note the following here:

  • With settings that are available both in the location determination activity and the check instructions (which is defined through the check mode along with the business event of the calling application), the availability check uses the settings in the location determination activity (for example, calling Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS)).
  • If you have set all basic methods to neutral results in the check instructions belonging to the check mode, an availability check is carried out and everything confirmed.

Note that the check mode must be assigned to check instructions.

Vehicles for Third-Party Order Processing

The definition of the vehicle as the location determination activity is relevant to transportation and shipping scheduling. At the moment this is only supported for third-party order processing.

The vehicle denotes the means of transport by which the transportation will be carried out between locations. You can assign a vehicle to the activity. For location determination you thereby define the vehicle that should be used to make deliveries from the location. The vehicle is relevant to scheduling in third-party order processing.

Scheduling is called. As a result, a product availability date is returned and the ATP check carried out. A new product availability date and a new delivery date can possibly result from this.

In order to configure the location determination activity, select from SAP Easy Access Master Data Rule Maintenance Integrated Rule Maintenance Profile + Parameter Location deter. activity. Assign a location determination activity to the location determination procedure and ensure that the location determination procedure is assigned to a rule.
