Changes to the Publication of Planning Results

Use

As of the R/3 Plug-In Release 2000.1 and APO 3.0A (First Customer Shipment and Support Package 1), you can define the target system for the publication of planning results. It is no longer automatically determined on the basis of the relation of Location Business System Group Logical System as was the case up to now. The target system is determined based on the criteria you have defined, including the order type, location, and logical system. These criteria are maintained in the maintenance view Change Distribution Criteria: Overview. It is possible to define several logical systems as target systems within or outside the business system group. The destination of an object changes automatically (realignment) if distribution-relevant criteria in an object are modified (for example, type and location of an order), or if the definition of the distribution is modified. The number of selection criteria of the report Selection and Transfer of Orders was reduced. You no longer need to determine the location, as this is already defined in the maintenance view Change Distribution Criteria: Overview.

The transfer mode was replenished with two further modes. You can transfer data collectively or individually. Individual transfer takes place immediately. Collected data is transferred as a batch job. You can define the time when the data has to be transferred.

System performance has been improved by stopping the key completion step in connection with the completion of key information.

Effects on Existing Data

The modification of the recipient determination means that you must maintain the settings of the distribution criteria. Any previous settings are not copied to the system.

Effects on Data Transfer

The data transfer depends on the settings. You can define both the destinations of the data transfer as well as different logical systems (also outside of the business system group) as target systems. The destination changes automatically if you redefine the distribution criteria, or if the distribution-relevant criteria within an order change.

Effects on Customizing

You must define the distribution criteria in the APO System in the maintenance view Change distribution Criteria: Overview. As this is a new functionality, it is not possible to adopt criteria from older releases. You must define distribution criteria for every order type in order for data transfer to take place.

In addition, you must define whether data should be transferred collectively, individually, periodically, or immediately.
