APO-PPS-BF: Period Lot-Sizing
Use
As of Release 3.0A (First Customer Shipment and Support Package 1), you can define period lot-sizing procedures at product-location level. With a period lot-sizing procedure, the system groups several requirements within a time interval together to form a lot. The following period lot sizes are available in APO:
- Daily lot size
- All requirement quantities that fall within a day or within a specific number of days (which you have determined) are grouped together to form a lot.
- Weekly lot size
- All requirement quantities that fall within a week or within a specific number of weeks (which you have determined) are grouped together to form a lot.
- Monthly lot size
- All requirement quantities that fall within a month or within a specific number of months (which you have determined) are grouped together to form a lot.
- Jun lot size
- All requirement quantities within a jun (10 days) or any defined number of jun are grouped together to a lot size.
- Calendar lot size
- All requirement quantities within one or any number of definable periods according to a calendar are grouped together to a lot size.
To use a period lot-sizing procedure during planning, you must select the Periodic indicator in the Lot Size tab of the Product Master and enter the period indicator and lot-sizing indicator. You can also define when the receipt elements are to created in the period. This lot-sizing procedure is taken into account in the standard lot-sizing heuristics.
Period Lot-Sizing for Different Horizons Using a Heuristic
It is also possible to use a heuristic to define different period lot sizes for up to three horizons. Using the algorithm /SAPAPO/HEU_PEGID_PERIODIC_LOT, you can define a heuristic that contains three horizons of varying length and period type, and three varying lot-sizing procedures.
Example:
Short-term = 5 days using lot-for-lot procedure
Medium-term = 4 weeks using period lot-sizing (weekly lot size)
Long-term = All requirements not covered by other horizons are covered here using period lot-sizing (monthly)
