APO-PPS-BF: Product and Order Priorities
Use
As of Release 3.0A (First Customer Shipment and Support Package 1), you are able to define the priority of a product. In PP/DS, the priority of the product can be used to determine the priority of orders. The priority of orders can, in turn, be used by the scheduling heuristics for sequencing or serves as decision support for the scheduler.
You define the product priority in the Product Master. The order priority can also be determined from the customer priority. You can control how the order priority is to be determined via the PP/DS: Priority Determination indicator in the planning version maintenance:
- In the case of make-to-order production, the priority is taken from the sales order, or if this is not maintained, the priority is taken from the Product Master
- The priority is taken from the Product Master.
- The priority is always taken from the requirement. This applies to all production levels, as well as to make-to-stock production. In make-to-stock production, lots are usually formed. This could mean that requirements with different priorities are covered by one receipt element. In this case, the priority of the receipt element can differ from that of the requirement element.
