APO-PPS-FUD: Transfer of PP/DS Orders to an OLTP System

Use

As of Release 3.0A (First Customer Shipment and Support Package 1), you are able to define whether orders created in Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) are to be transferred to the OLTP System.

You can choose between the following options:

  • PP/DS orders are not to be transferred
This can be useful for non-R/3 Systems that do not react to events, to improve system performance.
  • PP/DS orders are only to be transferred within the opening period
The orders are not transferred to the OLTP system until they are ready to be converted into production orders/purchase orders. This helps improve system performance in the OLTP system and avoids inconsistencies between the two systems when orders are changed before conversion. This also reduces the data transfer via the APO core interface (CIF), which can reduce costs.
However, if some components are not planned in APO, this means that these components are planned at a later stage and therefore may not be available at such short notice, particularly in the case of long lead times.
  • PP/DS orders are to be transferred for the complete production horizon
This is advisable if you require constant data in both systems and you plan components in the OLTP system.

Effects on Customizing

You define which orders are to be transferred in Customizing for Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling, under Global Settings -> Maintain Global Parameters and Defaults.

This setting is also available in Customizing for Supply Network Planning, under Configure Transfer to OLTP Systems. If you work with both Supply Network Planning and Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling, you should either transfer orders for both applications, for none at all or just for Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling. You should not only transfer orders from Supply Network Planning.
