APO-PPS-PRE: Graphical display of scheduling information

Use

As of Release 3.0A (First Customer Shipment and Support Package 1), the following new and changed functions and settings are available for displaying scheduling information and objects in the Detailed Scheduling planning board.

Standard display of activities and operations

  • Up until now, activities and operations in working times were displayed, using the standard planning board profiles, as bars in which breaks were shown using lines. As of Release 3.0A, these objects are also displayed in the breaks using bars with darker colors.
  • As of Release 3.0A, the activity types Queue and Tear down are displayed using the standard planning board profiles SAP001 and SAP003.
In the DS planning board, a queue activity is shown as a dark brown bar (BROWN_2), a tear down activity as a pink bar (RED_3).
  • Confirmed operations are displayed as follows:
  • A green triangle pointing downwards represents the confirmed start date of an operation

  • A green line from the confirmed start date (triangle) to the start of the remaining processing phase represents the actual processing duration

  • A green bar connected to the line represents the remaining processing time for the operation

You cannot set any other forms of display for confirmed operations.

Multiple loading

To highlight multiple loading, graphical objects in the DS planning board that overlap in a row or touch one another are underlined. Up until now, the line was red. As of Release 3.0A (FCS + SP1), the underlining color is green.

Alerts

In the DS planning board, you can use colors to highlight the graphical objects for the objects for which an alert exists by choosing Extras -> Alerts. The graphical objects are highlighted depending on the alert type, that is, depending on whether it is an error, a warning or information.

You set the following in the detail screen in the DS planning board:

  • Which alerts are relevant for these indicator functions
To do this, you enter a PP/DS alert profile in which the desired alerts are defined. You can use another alert profile for the indicator function than the one set for the Alert Monitor in each application (product planning board, order view or DS planning board).
  • Whether and how the graphical objects affected by alerts - depending on alert type - are colored

Campaigns

You can specify in the DS planning board for a resource chart that campaigns are displayed in the diagram section of the resource chart. To do this, you set the Campaigns indicator in the planning board profile for the resource chart. A campaign is represented by a thin lilac bar. The campaign bar lies behind the graphical objects for the operations or activities that belong to the campaign.

Average resource load

Up until now, it was only possible to display the resource load at a point in time in the resource chart in the DS planning board, that is, at a particular point in time, the relationship in percent between the resource consumption from the operations scheduled at that point in time and the resource capacity at that point in time was displayed.

As of Release 3.0A (FCS + SP1), you can also display an average resource load in percent in the resource load chart. The average resource load always relates to a particular time interval; it is the relationship in percent between the capacity and the capacity requirement in this time period. You can display the average resource load per shift or per period. For the periodic display, you define the following in the period profile:

  • How long is a period
  • When does the period start
  • For which time segments within a period is the resource load displayed

You specify how the resource load is displayed in the planning board profile in Customizing for the resource load chart.

Fill level of storage resources / tank resources (container resources)

In the DS planning board, you can display the fill level depending on time for storage resources and tank resources. (Storage resources and tank resources are multi-activity resources with storage characteristics). The fill level curves are displayed in a separate chart. You define fill level charts in the planning board profile as follows:

  • Define a resource chart (Chart object Resource)
  • Choose Fill level as the object to be displayed

For further information, see release information Container resources.

Resource downtime

You can define downtime in the resources. You cannot schedule operations during downtime. Downtime differs from normal non-working time (for example, breaks or weekends) in which you can schedule operations if you specified this in the strategy profile. Downtime is underlined in dark gray in the resource chart in the DS planning board.

Note: Working times are displayed in white in the resource chart. Normal non-working times (for example, breaks or weekends) are underlined in light gray, as long as you did not set the Do not indicate NonWrkTime indicator in the planning board profile for the resource chart.

Show and hide non-working times

In the resource chart in the DS planning board, you can show or hide the non-working times (for example, breaks and weekends) that are common to all resources. To show or hide non-working times, choose Settings -> Non-working times -> Show or Hide. If the non-working times are hidden, operations that are scheduled partially or completely in non-working times are displayed respectively as being shorter or are also hidden.

If the system should automatically hide the non-working times when the DS planning board is called up, you set the Hide NonWrkTime indicator in the time profile.

You cannot show and hide downtime in the DS planning board.
