APO-MD-RE: Resource with Storage Properties in APO

Use

As of Release 3.0A (First Customer Shipment and Support Package 1) you can maintain the properties of a container resource for multi-activity resources by setting the Storage resourceindicator and maintaining the storage characteristics for this resource.

Container resource

A container resource is a multi-resource or multi/mixed-resource with storage properties.

A container is used in production for intermediate storage of different products. It can, however, only contain one product at a defined time. One or more activities can fill or consume in one container. From the point of view of planning, the container is a resource that is occupied for a certain period of time with a defined product quantity.

Container resource properties

A multi-resource or multi/mixed-resource can be assigned the properties of a container resource. Along with production capacity, the container resource also has storage capacity.

Storage properties must be maintained for the container resource. Along with the dimension and storage unit, these contain the following:

  • Maximum stock level - Maximum quantity that the resource may contain
  • Minimum production quantity- If a product is filled in a container, the quantity must at least equal this amount.
  • Allowed remaining quantity- A product can only be filled in the container if the stock level is below or equal to the allowed remaining quantity.

Product flow

The product flow describes the filling or emptying of a container by an activity.

The product flow ID can have the following characteristics

  • The product is withdrawn from the container at the beginning of an activity
  • The product is withdrawn from the container at the end of an activity
  • The product is continuously withdrawn from the container
  • The product is filled in the container at the beginning of an activity
  • The product is filled in the container at the end of an activity
  • The product is continuously filled in the container.

Product flows are assigned to the activities in a PPM. Each product flow must have a logical component of the PPM assigned to it to specify which material is to be filled or withdrawn from the container.

For each mode, you must enter the container in which the material is to be filled or withdrawn.

To ensure that the filling and withdrawing of pegged products always takes place in the same container, a product flow indicator must be set to link input and output products with the product flow.

Alerts

In the Alert Monitor, five alerts that are assigned to the container resource can be displayed.

  • Stock level below zero- The stock level in the container is below zero.
  • Maximum stock level violated- The maximum stock level defined in the storage properties is exeeded.
  • Minimum production qty violated - The quantity of the product filled in the container is less than the quantity defined in the storage properties.
  • Mixing of materials - Two different products are in the container.
  • Allowed remaining quantity violated - A product receipt takes place even though the quantity in the container is greater than the allowed remaining quantity

Display of the fill level of container resources

The fill level for container resources can be displayed on the planning board in relationship to the time. The fill level charts are displayed in a separate chart and must be defined in the planning board profile beforehand. To do this, you must define a resource chart and then choose Fill level.

Functions

  • Maintenance of storage properties for multi-resources or multi/mixed-resources in the resource master data of APO 3.0A.
  • Maintenance of the product flow in the PPM - In the PPM, the product flow is assigned to each activity. Detailed information on the resources and products can be displayed and changed. The default values come from the logical components and modes of each PPM
  • The I/O product <> product flow indicator can ensure that the filling and emptying of pegged products always takes place at the same container.
  • Conversion of several manufacturing orders at a container to one order. If a container resource is occupied by different manufacturing orders at the same time, only one manufacturing order is generated with one PI sheet at the time of execution. To realize this, a function is available that converts the multi-occupation for production at a container within one time horizon to one order.
  • Display of the filling level of the container resources on the DS planning board
  • Display of alerts for violations to storage properties of a container resource
