APO-PPS-PRE: Product Planning Table

Use

In interactive planning, in the APO Release 3.0 (First Customer Shipment and Support Package 1), the product planning table provides you with another planning tool along with the detailed scheduling planning board and optimization planning. You can use the product planning table to display a master plan and to evaluate the results of a planning run. It is an operative planning tool which you use to plan production quantities and dates. The product planning table is particularly useful for repetitive manufacturers as it can be used to plan products and the capacity utilization on the resources while taking alerts into account. It therefore facilitates simultaneous product and capacity planning. You can use the product planning table for in-house production and for external procurement.

The application contains the following functions:

  • You can use the product planning table to dispatch production quantities interactively. At a glance, you can check the production quantities, the current capacity load utilization of the resources and the availability situation of the products manufactured on these resouces.
  • In repetitive manufacturing, flow and order-related production, planning and control is executed on a period and quantity-basis. For this reason, the product planning table is split into time buckets and provides a clear overview of all products and production lines over the time axis. You can use the flexible period split to display various time buckets in the product planning table. For example, you can display the planning first in shifts, then in days and then in weeks.
  • You can use the product planning table for planning APO orders. Sales orders, planned orders and production orders from R/3 are converted to APO orders when transferred. When planning with the Product Process Model (PPM) and with the integrated Product and Process Engineering (iPPE) in APO, a production version must exist in R/3 or in the DI System. For the iPPE data, you also have to maintain the access object in the production version in the DI System. The PPM is automatically created from the R/3 system when transferring the data and the iPPE data are automatically copied to APO.
  • The product planning table is completely integrated in PP/DS and facilitates links to Heuristics for automatic planning, to the PP/DS optimizer and to the detailed scheduling planning board.
  • You can access the alerts from the product planning table. This provides the planner with an alert-based planning.
  • Two special basic heuristics are available for planning in Repetitive Manufacturing which distribute the orders per period to several resources and which also take finite capacities into account (see also the release note: Heuristics in Production and Detailed Scheduling.
  • You can enter, change and display production quantities directly in the product planning table. To do this, you can choose between several views:
  • In the periodic Product View, you can see the available quantity for each product, the days supply and the receipts and requirements totaled periodically.

  • In the Resource View, you can compare the available capacity and capacity requirement for a resource and check the load utilization (%) of the resource.

  • The other views are; the Alert Monitor View, the Details View for an individual product or a resource, the Resource/Product View with information on all products produced on an individual resource, the Detailed Scheduling Planning Table and the graphic display of quantities and days supply (Product View: Graphic).

  • In the upper navigation tree, you can group the data according to various criteria such as product, planner or resource. Here, you can also display the alerts (quantity alerts and date alerts) and the days supply and you can navigate through the BOM and the Supply Chain.
  • From the menu and the Resource View, you can access and print a production line which, for example, shows the utilization of the resources to the employee in production. This function is also available as a MiniApp in the Workplace via the Internet.

Effects on Existing Data

You can plan important components and finished products individually in APO and display the planning results in the product planning table. When planning less important components, for backflushing and for functions other than planning functions, you use the R/3 system or the DI System. For the integration of APO and R/3, you must have maintained the master data in the R/3 System or in the DI System. The data is transferred to APO via an integration model.

Effects on Data Transfer

Effects on System Administration

Effects on Customizing

In Customizing for the product planning table, make the settings necessary to configure the product planning table. To do this, you can use the standard profiles provided by SAP which you can access in the application and modify as necessary.
