APO-SNP-OPT: Optimization Bound Profile

Use

Release 3.0A (First Customer Shipment and Support Package 1) includes a new optimization profile in Supply Network Planning. The optimization bound profile is an optional profile that you can use for subsequent optimization runs.

Using the resulting values for all decision variables (production quantity, transportation quantity, procurement quantity, storage quantity or delivery quantity) from an initial optimization run as your basis, you can set maximum and minimum limits for each bucket to recalculate particular decision variables in subsequent optimization runs.

The optimization bound profile contains the following fields:

  • Sequence - Enter the sequence in which the periods are taken into account.
  • Period - Choose the type of period (day, week or month) for which the optimization bounds should be valid.
  • Number - Enter the number of periods for which the optimization bounds should be valid.
  • Upper Limit - Set this flag, if the maximum percentage of the decision variable should be taken into account.
  • Deviation (+%) - Enter a percentage to recalculate maximum value of all decision variables.
  • Lower Limit - Set this flag, if the minimum percentage of the decision variable should be taken into account.
  • Deviation (-%) - Enter a percentage to recalculate the minimum value of all decision variables.
  • Basic value - Choose a basic value (average, maximum or minimum), if the resulting value for the decision variable in a particular bucket from the initial optimization run was zero.

The basic value is derived from the previous optimization run. Depending on your settings, the basic value is derived from either the bucket with the largest quantity of the decision variable (maximum), the bucket with the smallest quantity of the decision variable (minimum), or from the average of all buckets that contain non-zero values for the relevant decision variable (average).
